Kartini Day Celebration

Kartini Day holds great significance in Indonesian culture as it commemorates the legacy of Raden Ajeng Kartini, a pioneer in the fight for women's rights and education in Indonesia.

The YIS community celebrated Kartini Day last Monday. Everyone is dressed in traditional Indonesian clothing and batik. Both the Grade 9 students' angklung performance and the Grade 2 students' Jaranan dance were amazing. We also had the chance to enjoy a short drama about Kartini's life performed by the Grade 7 & 8 students. Presenting on "Pahlawanku, Sumber Inspirasiku" were the Grade 11 & 12 students. A musical performance by Grade 10 students featuring traditional Indonesian songs concluded the festivities.
