Research Writing Workshop for Grade 5 and 6 Students
Inquiry-based learning is an approach to learning that emphasizes the student's role in the learning process. Rather than the teacher telling students what they need to know, students are encouraged to explore the material, ask questions, and share ideas. Thus, students are encouraged to share through research writing and presentation. However, writing itself can be a difficult skill to learn and master.
Last week, PYP Grade 5 and 6 students attended a research writing workshop with Ibu Artika, our MYP and DP Science teacher. They had an experiment on a microscopic living thing, yeast, learning that tiny living thing is also breathing. They then wrote down their investigation through a report.
It is hoped that this opportunity can help PYP students to have a smooth transition to the MYP. As Alexander Graham Bell once said, "Before anything else, preparation is the key to success."
