For two days, our Grade 11 students will sit for the ANBK (Asesmen Nasional Berbasis Komputer / Computer-based National Assessment), a mandatory assessment from Indonesia's Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.

There are three instruments used in this evaluation program. The Minimum Competency Assessment (AKM), which comprises assessments in literacy and numeracy, comes first. The environmental survey came in second, followed by a character survey in third.

The first day of school began with the introduction of our new Principal and teachers, followed by some enjoyable activities for students to get to know their classmates and teachers.

Embracing Lifelong Learning as we breathe the International Baccalaureate curriculum, teachers are also ongoing learners. During Teachers Preparation Week, YIS teachers recalled the five elements of the PYP Curriculum by having a PYP Transdisciplinary Cafe. Knowledge, Concepts, Learner Profiles, Approaches to Learning, as well as Action was represented by each booth offering pizza, cookies, chocolate, traditional snacks, and Thai tea.

The safety and security of all students, teachers, and staff members will always be our number one priority.

We had accident management simulations, seismic catastrophes, and victim care simulations last Tuesday, which were attended by the YIS security team, housekeeping team, gardeners, teachers, and staff members. This course is meant to improve participants' vigilance in the face of accidents and disasters, as well as their knowledge and experience in dealing with accidents and disasters.

Last month, our Middle Years Programme (MYP) students had an educational field trip to a mushroom farm. They learned how to produce mushroom growth media and inoculate mushroom mycelium into the log bags.

This activity aims to enrich knowledge and provide students with experiences outside their everyday activities. It will also help students develop their IB learner profile, especially “BALANCE” to achieve personal well-being by understanding the intellectual, physical, and emotional aspects.
