A few days ago, some Grade 5 students and teachers from Santa Laurensia School came to our school for an immersion program. On that day, they participated in various fun and engaging sports activities at the YIS sports field, including dodgeball, tug-of-war, and hula hooping. The students of Santa Laurensia School also performed a traditional North Sumatran dance and song.

Hopefully, this immersion program will enrich students' educational experiences by widening their horizons and preparing them for a multicultural world. Until we meet again, students and teachers of Santa Laurensia School!

Kartini Day holds great significance in Indonesian culture as it commemorates the legacy of Raden Ajeng Kartini, a pioneer in the fight for women's rights and education in Indonesia.

The YIS community celebrated Kartini Day last Monday. Everyone is dressed in traditional Indonesian clothing and batik. Both the Grade 9 students' angklung performance and the Grade 2 students' Jaranan dance were amazing. We also had the chance to enjoy a short drama about Kartini's life performed by the Grade 7 & 8 students. Presenting on "Pahlawanku, Sumber Inspirasiku" were the Grade 11 & 12 students. A musical performance by Grade 10 students featuring traditional Indonesian songs concluded the festivities.

Yesterday was an especially memorable day for our Primary Years Programme students. They took a field trip to two locations in one day: the Butterfly Garden at Sanata Dharma University and the Sonobudoyo Museum.

This field trip allows students to discover real-world connections, build empathy, and widen their viewpoints. Students can build a stronger sense of community and a better understanding of their obligations as global citizens by interacting with various surroundings and cultural artifacts.
