Two weeks ago, the YIS Middle Years Programme students attended a workshop with our school counselor that helped them to know themselves better and taught them to accept and celebrate differences.

As a continuation of the previous workshop, yesterday our MYP students took an MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) personality test which also help them to know who they really are. By knowing their personality, the students can understand their preferences and the preferences of other people and how or why these might be different.

Soekarno, Kartini, Bung Tomo, Cut Nyak Dien and Habibie are familiar names to the Indonesian people. They are national figures who have given their lives for Indonesia's independence.

Last Friday, our Grade 10 students in the Bahasa Indonesia class had presentations about those national figures after research; focusing on their biographies and their values. By having the presentation, it is expected that the students become inspired and are able to make a self-reflection in order to make a big leap toward their success.

Over 2 billion people celebrate Lunar New Year all over the world. As a school that implements an International Curriculum, it is one of our goals to develop International Mindedness within the students. This mindset plays an important part within the strategy of preparing our students to become global players.

To support that goal, YIS students, parents, and teachers today celebrated the Lunar New Year with singing, dancing, and poem reading. A Lion Dance Group was also invited to perform in front of the students and parents. We hope that the Year of Water Rabbit will bring us prosperity and happiness.
