Every year we celebrate Book Week at YIS. The aim of this event is to inspire a love of books and stories, as well as an appreciation of the creative process, and also to encourage reading and literacy.
Today, a Book Bazaar was held with tons of selections of books from novels, comics, story books, and craft books. Students and parents were very enthusiastic to choose and buy the book that they like.
Tomorrow morning, a costume parade will be held where students and teachers will dress up as their favorite book characters. Don't miss it! 😊

A field trip is one of the best tools that we can use to provide every student with practical experiences. There are four primary reasons why field trips are important: improving academic growth, deepening student engagement, giving real-world experiences, promoting cultural growth, as well as enhancing critical thinking.
We had a PYP Field Trip today visiting Chocolate Monggo Museum and Taman Pintar. Students from Preschool up to Grade 6 were very enthusiastic to join every mini workshop such as making batik painting, decorating clay pottery, and making chocolate mendiants.
Thank you YIS teachers and parents for your continuous support. 😊

Fun learning is what the PYP is all about. We believe students will be more creative when they are happy.
To support that goal, YIS provides many outdoor facilities that can help the students to learn happily. YIS mini-farm is one of the outdoor facilities that our students are really fond of. Here, they can interact with geese, rabbits, turkeys, and some baby turkeys or poults.
Have a #WonderfulWednesday, YIS students!

Have you ever wondered what is it like inside a factory?
Last week, our Grade 5 and 6 students were lucky enough to visit PT Sport Glove Indonesia, one of the factories that produce high-quality gloves in Yogyakarta.
Students were able to see an impressive real-life working environment and learn about all the procedures that go into producing a huge variety of gloves - from receiving raw materials to finished product assembly and quality checks.
The trip was made in relation to our unit of inquiry: ‘How We Organize Ourselves.’ The central idea of this unit is “social organizations impact upon the well-being of individuals in a community”. The trip was educational and fun and helped the students think more about how a working community functions. Thank you to everyone at PT. Sport Glove Indonesia for supporting our school and students.

Grade 9 students were excited to display their creativity through the use of books as artistic objects and foster the love for reading.
“Book Face Activity” involved strategically lining up the face or another body part alongside a book cover that features a matching body part so that it appears a melding of life and art.

On the 14 and 16 February, our Grade 9 students held a fundraising event to help the unlucky dogs at Ron Ron Dog Care, a dog shelter in Yogyakarta. This event is held as a part of the Service as Action (SA) Programme in MYP. The students organized, prepared, cook, and sold delicious food and drinks to the YIS community.
We would like to say thank you to everyone who donate and support our Grade 9 students' fundraising event. We woof you!
